The NexTech team recently headed to the Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre for the Odoo Business Show 2026 (14 April 2026), and wow—what a day! You get a peek into the future of how we do business in Malaysia. From AI magic to major local compliance updates, here’s what we learned in the summit.
1. The "Magic" of Odoo 19: AI at Your Fingertips
One of the biggest highlights was seeing Odoo 19 in action. They’ve integrated AI in a way that actually makes sense for a busy business owner.
Imagine typing: "Show me the revenue for last week," and instead of clicking through five different menus, the AI jumps you straight to the accounting dashboard with the data ready. It feels less like a database and more like having a digital assistant who knows exactly where you left your paperwork!
2. Solving the "Digital Gap" for Malaysian SMEs

The event shared some eye-opening stats. While Malaysia’s ICT market is booming, only 1 in 20 SMEs currently have a formal digital strategy. Many businesses are still juggling a messy mix of apps like WhatsApp, spreadsheets, and separate accounting tools.
Odoo’s "All-in-One" approach aims to fix this by putting everything—Sales, HR, Manufacturing, and Finance—under one roof.
3. Localization: E-Invoicing & Compliance Made Easy
For many of us, the big "scary" topic is LHDN’s E-Invoicing (MyInvois). Odoo is ahead of the curve here. We saw demos of:
Direct LHDN Submission: Sending invoices straight from the Point of Sale (POS).
SST Automation: Effortless SST-02 reporting using Malaysian tariff codes.
Local Payments: Smooth integration with Xendit, meaning your customers can pay via GrabPay, ShopeePay, and TNG.

4. Big News for Online Sellers!
If you sell online, the roadmap is looking bright. We saw the new Shopee connectors, and the buzz was all about the upcoming TikTok Shop integration (slated for Q2 2026) and Lazada (Q1 2026). Managing your inventory across all these platforms from one screen is going to be a total game-changer.

Why NexTech is Excited
Transitioning to a digital system can feel overwhelming, but there’s plenty of support available right now:
SME Digitization Grant: Get a 50% grant (up to RM 5,000) for cloud software.
Tax Deductions: Up to RM 50,000 deduction for e-invoicing implementation costs.
Partner Services: As seen on stage, the Odoo ecosystem provides everything from Analysis and Customization to Hosting and Training.

The era of "doing it manually" is fading. With Odoo's flexibility and the current government incentives, there has never been a better time for Malaysian SMEs to level up.
Stay tuned to NexTech for more updates on how we’re helping businesses navigate these new digital tools!
